Korean Air Skypass program had a little
shake up revising down their programs validity of miles for their Skypass frequent
flyer program from 1 July 2008 any miles
earned after this date will have will expire 5 years after being posted on the
members Skypass account. Existing points in a members account prior to 1 July 2008will not expire.
The Korea Air announcement can be read
here: Introduction of Mileage Validity for miles Earned after July 1, 2008
Korea Air say they will be increasing the
number of frequent flyer seats available for redemption under their Skypass program,
but I along with most others see it simply as a cost cutting measure, to pry
hard earned miles out of flyers who have not yet used them.
I see this decision affecting those
frequent flyers who earn so many miles per year they cannot use them, and infrequent
flying members who earn their miles thru credit cards and the yearly family
guess Korea Air is saying use them or lose them, if
this does increase the number of Skypass members using their miles it will be
interesting to see if Korea Air can supply enough award seats to cope with the increased
demand. We will keep you posted!
