Qantas’ recently announced an overhaul of its Frequent Flyer
program that will be implemented along with Next Generation Check-in and will
include among many changes removal of unrestricted lounge access known as Anytime
Access for Platinum Frequent Flyers.
Under the current Qantas Frequent Flyer program rules Platinum
members are able to access any Qantas lounge this includes Qantas International First Class Lounges, Domestic Business Class
Lounges and Qantas Club lounges regardless of if they are flying or not.
After 1 February 2011
Platinum’s (and Gold Frequent Flyers) will still retain lounge access however they
will need to be flying the same day on a flight that shows either a Qantas (QF)
Jetstar (JQ) Jetstar Asia (3K) Valuair (VF) or any oneworld flight number in
order to gain access.
It is important to
note that Qantas Platinum are able to access Domestic Business and Qantas Club lounges on arrival provided
they have travelled that day.
Most Platinum’s used their anytime access to use a Qantas
Lounge when flying with another airline which they did not have lounge access
with, this could even be when flying on an airline that was a direct competitor
to Qantas. Qantas must have wised up to this decided if you are not flying with
us or one of our partners you are not getting any access.

Frequent Flyer status worth sticking with Qantas for? Leave your comments in
