Korean Air announced today that it will serve next generation premium
seats built in B777- 300ER, the new aircraft scheduled to be delivered in May.
The new seats offer more comfort and coziness than both Kosmo Sleeper seats and
Prestige Plus seats served in current First and Prestige Class.
The new first class seats enable customers to travel with more comfort of 12cm
widened seat width, and 900cm² extended table. Also, the new individual
monitors are 15cm enlarged to 58cm to deliver full excitement of AVOD (Audio
Video On Demand) system on board. In addition, wood colored seats open the door
to beauty of nature, along with big sized privacy screens preventing
distraction from passenger seating next to each other.
The new prestige class seats offer 180 degree of lie-flat which lets customers
feel as cozy as seating in First Class of other carriers.
All next generation premium seats will be equipped in three B777-300 ER
aircrafts scheduled to be delivered this year. Also, Korean Air will attach the
new seats into the current three aircrafts and aims to operate a total of six
aircrafts equipped with the new seats this year.
As part of constant efforts to advance its service quality, Korean Air will
attach the new seats into A380 and B787, environment-friendly next generation
aircrafts to be delivered in 2010.
Also, the airline will continuously upgrade its current aircrafts by adopting
the new seats.
Since equipped in 15 aircrafts in 2005, Kosmo Sleeper, Korean Air’s current
First Class seat, has earned numerous satisfactions of world renowned
celebrities, CEOs, and a number of VIP customers. Kosmo Sleeper seat converts
to a lie-flat bed that is 210cm in length, providing extended comfortable space
for even the taller customers.
Prestige Plus, Korean Air’s current Prestige Class seat equipped in 26
aircrafts, is also part of distinguishing premium marketing strategy, targeting
various VIP customers by providing 170-degree lie-flat beds.
While Kosmo Sleeper is valued by VIP customers, individual AVOD system
with diverse entertainment items is acknowledged as the main attraction for
Economy Class passengers traveling long-haul journey.
Korean Air has been recognized as one of the best airlines for operating 26
aircrafts equipped with AVOD system in all class. Korean Air is planning to
expand its AVOD service to all long-haul routes to let more customers enjoy the
best in-flight entertainment around.
Commemorating its 40th anniversary of establishment this year, Korean Air will
strengthen its position as a global premium carrier by adopting the next
generation high-end seat.
