The Virgin Australia Singapore Airlines Airline Alliance has
received regulatory approval from the Singapore Competition Commission of
Singapore (CCS), after this all that is left is approval from the Australian
Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) for the alliance to become reality.
The alliance will allow Virgin Australia to offer code share
services to most Singapore Airlines destinations which includes an
extensive range of Asian destinations, such as Ho Chi Minh City, Beijing, Siem
Reap to name a few as well as an extensive range or European and American
destinations. In return Singapore Airlines will be able to sell code share
services on within Australia.
Both airlines welcomed the decision from Singapore’s CCS
chief executive John Borghetti welcomed the approval and noted that the
alliance would give the carrier a competitive edge with a “first-rate product
to Australian and Asian travellers, as well as promote tourism in the two

Australia to offer connections from anywhere within its domestic network to any
codeshare destination available with Singapore Airlines, opening up many new
routings, including from regional Australia to destinations throughout the
