Virgin Australia today announced that it would commence
services to the Queensland town of Emerald from 16 January 2012.
The Brisbane to Emerald service will be operated on the
Airlines 68 Seat turboprop ATR with twice daily services during the week as
well as a Sunday afternoon service.
To celebrate the announcement of this new route Virgin
Australia is offering special introductory one way fares starting at $68.00 available
from 9:00am (AEST) today until 11:59pm (AEST) Thursday, 27 October 2011 (or
until sold out) The regular cost of this service will start from $88.00
General Manager Sales, Justin Montgomery, said “The spacious and stylish cabin of our
brand new 68‐seat ATR‐72 turbo‐prop aircraft is already generating very
positive feedback from guests who have flown on it. The in‐flight experience is
certainly in keeping with Virgin Australia’s new business model and will appeal
to business and leisure travellers alike,”
Morning flights Monday through Friday from Brisbane will
depart at 5.45am, arriving in Emerald at 7.40am; with a return flight departing
Emerald at 8.10am, arriving in Brisbane at 9.55am.
Afternoon flights will depart Brisbane at 4.00pm, arriving
in Emerald at 5.55pm; with a return flight departing Emerald at 6.25pm,
arriving in Brisbane at 8.10pm. Sunday afternoon services will also operate to
