United awarded best North American Airline in Asia

United Airlines has been voted the best North American Airline in Asia, at the recent Business Travellers Asia-Pacific Travel awards. Its is the eighth consecutive year that United has taken out this prestigious award.

Personally I think United along with the other US Carriers still have a long way to go to get close to the comfort and service provided by the likes of Qantas, Singapore Airlines, Emirates, but their new cabins are heading in the right direction, I hope to see more from them in the future.

United Voted “Best North American Airline” in Asia

Eight consecutive wins at one of the region’s top travel awards

Hong Kong, September 22, 2008 – For the eighth consecutive year, discerning frequent travelers in the Asia-Pacific region have voted United Airlines the "Best North American Airline" in Business Traveller Asia-Pacific’s Travel Awards 2008.

“It is a tremendous honor for United to be recognized over so many years as the best among our peers by such a prominent industry publication and their travel-savvy readers,” says Mark Schwab, Vice President, Pacific, United Airlines.  “The Asia-Pacific region has always been an important part of United’s global strategy and we will continue to work hard to bring quality products and services to customers in this region.  Many of our customers are already enjoying our new international premium travel experience, including lie-flat United Business seats that are leaving them energized and ready for whatever awaits them at their destination.”

Now in its 17th year, the Business Traveller Asia-Pacific Travel Awards is one of the Asia-Pacific region’s most prestigious accolades for top industry players.  Each year, the magazine polls frequent travelers from across the region to hear their opinions on airlines and travel industry services. The 2008 results are verified and compiled by independent global market research company, Synovate.

United’s all-new First Class Suite and Business Class cabins give the airline the distinction of being the first U.S. carrier to offer 180º fully-flat beds.   The new seats are currently available to United customers in the Asia-Pacific region on nonstop services between Hong Kong and San Francisco and Hong Kong and Singapore.  All of United’s international flights will be fitted with the new cabin configuration.

United is also the only U.S. carrier to offer three cabins of service on all of its international overseas flights.  In addition to first and business services, United offers economy class with its Economy Plus® seating, which provides up to 13 extra centimeters of legroom.  For more information about the new United First and Business cabins, visit www.suitedreams.united.com.
