Airbus and Singapore Airlines set delivery date for First commercial Airbus A380

Airbus and Singapore Airlines have agreed a delivery time table for the first Airbus A380 to be delivered and go into commercial production. The delivery schedule is as follows:

  • Monday 15 October 2007: Aircraft Handover Ceremony Toulouse France
  • Days after handover/Delivery: Aircraft flown to Home airport Singapore’s Changi
  • Thursday 25 October 2007: First Commercial Flight SQ380 Singapore to Sydney
  • Friday 26 October 2007: Return flight Sydney to Singapore

If you want to be part of this history making first commercial flight of the Airbus A380, you can, Singapore Airlines are auctioning via eBay the majority of this flights seats with 100% of the proceeds going to the following charities:

  • One-third to Singapore’s Community Chest
  • One-third split between the Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick and the Children’s Hospital at Westmead, Both in Sydney.
  • One-third to Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors without borders)

Singapore Airlines Chief Executive Officer, Mr Chew Choon Seng, said the delivery would Mark the beginning of a new chapter for the aviation industry.

“Everyone at Singapore Airlines is keenly anticipating the delivery of this new plane, and our people are working hard on final preparation for its entry into service. The first flight promises to be one of the most exciting occasions in aviation history.

“We are overwhelmed by the support of the community – from all over the world – for the charity auction. And I would like to thank the many partners and service providers that have followed the lead of our fuel supplier, ExxonMobil, and eBay, in donating their services for the First Flight’s charitable causes.

“While occasions like this are few and far between, we hope this enthusiasm generates support for very worthwhile causes,” Mr Chew said

To take part in the eBay auction you will need the following:

  • Ebay ID Signup here, eBay signup page (if you don’t already have an account)
  • Names & Passport details of people travelling
  • Sign up for Pre-qualification Pre-qualificatin Sign-up page (For Premium classes Business & Suites) or for bids over US$1000

For more information on the eBay auction of Singapore Airline’s first commercial flight of the Airbus A380 can be found on the following eBay Page: Count Down to the Worlds First A380 Commercial Flight

Any and every Airline and Airplane buff will want to be on this flight, but I am sure demand will outstrip supply of seats and the cost of a seat will go sky high, which is a good thing, as the money is going to charity. I think I will try my luck in the auction, but I don’t like my chances. Crying
