Paper Airline Tickets soon to be a thing of the past!

The IATA has announced that from 1st June 2008 all airlines will be Paper ticketless (electronic)

This decision will be a relief for all involved with the airline & travel industry, as the current Paper IATA Billing and Settlement Plan (BSP) was very inefficient, costing a lot in terms of time, resources, and mistakes.

"This is 'last call' for paper tickets," said Giovanni Bisignani, IATA's director general and CEO. "It's been 38 months since we launched the drive for 100% e-ticketing as part of IATA's Simplifying the Business initiative. E-ticketing went from 16% in June 2004 to 84% today. And in just 278 more days the paper ticket will become a collector's item."

Just think one less thing to worry about or lose in the dash to the airport, the impact from this decision will be wide and far reaching. Many airlines have been ticket less for quite some time, but making them all airline travel paper ticket less is a great decision, for everyone.
