    On Departure Upgrades with Jetstar

    Hi

This question relates to Jetstar not Qantas but because I could not find a Jetstar forum I decided to post here, as it is owned by Qantas.

Anyway do Jetstar offer on departure upgrades to StarClass on their International Service? If so how much to upgrade from SYD to SGN? a friend said they recently upgraded one of their flights for around $300! Sounds like a bargain for an 8 hour flight!

    Hi Robyn,

Welcome to The Business Travel Guru forums, yes your friend is correct, if available Jetstar allows On Departure Upgrades (ODUs). In general I have found the cost to vary between $200 and $300 per flight, depending on the number of StarClass seats available and the person on the chek in counter. I have found if you dont like the price, you can negotiate a lower price. Eventhough JetStar dont promote ODUs I highly recomend you are the first person on at the check in counter so you have first dibs at the seat/s.

Good luck, let us know how you went and the cost of your StarClass upgrade

    Regards

Re: On Departure Upgrades with Jetstar

Hi Ben Does Jetstar offer these ODU's based on the type of fare you have ie. Jetflex vs Jetsaver? If you go from either Jetsaver to Starclass, or Jetflex to Starclass as a Qantas Frequent Flyer, will you be given the status credits and points that are usually earned by QFF members in Starclass? Also, have you noticed how Jetstar says on its website that QFF members cannot earn SCs or points on Jetstar Asia Jetflex flights, however Qantas has an earning table for these and has confirmed with me that it will honour these flights? I have just taken a flight SIN-SGN and am waiting to see what the result will be.......no lounge access for intra Asia flights though....bit of a shame. Thanks Richard

Re: On Departure Upgrades with Jetstar

    Hi Richard,

ODUs are available regardless of the type of fare that was purchased (Jetstar Australia), and the pricing of the ODU is fairly much left up to the person you at the check in counter. Another thing to note every time I have asked for an ODU I have always been quoted X cost, but have always been sucessful in negotiating a lower cost. My last flight SYD-SGN was $200 for an ODU.

You will earn miles and SCs with Jetstar Australia & Jetstar Asia for Jetflex fares, the Jetstar Asia website says the following:

"Qantas Frequent Flyer points and Status Credits can be earned on flights operated by Jetstar Asia (3K) or ValuAir (VF) on Jetflex Fares."

        http://www.jetstar.com/sg-flyingwithus/qantas-frequent-flyer.html

Let us know how everthing goes

    Regards

    Ben
