    Upgrade to Business Class

Hi Ben I have booked a seat on the SQ0317 11.55am flight to Brisbane on the 16/09/08 economy flexi plus to visit my Daughter and Grandsons. Could you tell me if I would be able to:

    1. Upgrade to Business Class cheaper at the checking in desk.

    2. Be cheeky and ask for an upgrade at the checking in desk.

    3. Don't bother as this Airline does not give free upgrades.

I am not a frequent traveler but I have joined the Krisflyer club and hope to accumulate a few air miles over the next few years. Also as a novice long haul traveler I am not sure of the procedure for baggage at the stopover in Singapore do I collect it and re check in, or, will it automatically find its way to my next flight on to Brisbane. Kind Regards Maxine

    Re: Upgrade to Business Class

Hi Maxine,Welcome to the Business Travel Guru forums, Unfortunately either begging or offering to pay for an upgrade at check-in will get you an upgrade.

With you baggage it will automatically be transferred onto your forwarding flight. If you were not issued with a boarding pass for your SIN BNE flight in LHR the only thing you will need to do is proceed to a transfer counter on arrival in Singapore Airport to get your boarding pass.

    Regards

    Re: Upgrade to Business Class

Hi there - do you know if there is the option to buy a cheap upgrade to business class at the check in desk - or is it worth calling reservations a day before the flight?

    Hi Anita,

Welcome to the BizTravelGuru forums, it’s always worth enquiring, different airlines have different policies for paid upgrades, for instance Jetstar if they have StarClass (Premium Economy) seats available will sell an upgrade at a fairly cheap price, plus you get the Qantas FF points and SCs.

Your chances of securing a discount upgrade are higher at the check-in, calling a night or the day before you will just be quoted a full fare price.
