    AA Platinum Challenge Information

I will be doing a lot of flying over the next few months, and have heard about AA's Platinum Challenge. Just how does this program work and would it be worth my signing up.

A little more about my intended travel, I have a large contract which will see me fly between the US, Asia and Australia, at least once a month for the next six months.

    Your advice is apreciated.

    Regards

    Re: AA Platinum Challenge Information

Well if you are going to be doing even a moderate amount of travel with American Airlines, its defiantly worth registering for the challenge. There are actually two challenges the Gold Challenge and the Platinum Challenge.

The Challenge allows a flyer to fast track elite status this is done by earning the required 5,000 points for the gold (OneWorld Ruby) or 10,000 points for the platinum (OneWorld Sapphire) challenge. Qualifying points need to be earned in a 3 month period.

To take the American Airlines Challenge you will need to register, by calling the AAdvantage serivce center on +1 817 799 2500.

Points are not the same as frequent flyer miles, but generally they are, points are calculated at the below rate per mile flown depending on the fare bases:

    1.5 - Y B

    1.0 - H K L M V W

    0.5 - G N O* Q** S

The biggest benefit of having American Airlines AAdvantage Platinum status is access to Admirals club when flying on American Airlines.

Good luck with your Challenge, from what you have said you should easily be able to complete the Platinum Challenge.

    Regards
