Today Qantas has increased Airbus A380 Services into Hong Kong from Sydney, the increase will see Qantas switch one of its Boeing 747 return services to the Airbus A380 superjumbo. The increase will see the airline move from four to five return services per week increasing capacity by 5% on the route. In August this year Qantas CEO Alan Joyce had the following to say about the increase in this service “The Qantas Group is serious about Asia and we’ve already increased capacity to Hong Kong by 10 per cent this year. As well as adding almost five per cent more seats per week on this route, the aircraft swap will increase the amount of flying done by our flagship A380 fleet into Asia” Qantas A380 services from Sydney to Hong Kong operate under QF127 with the return flight QF 128. QF 127/128 is a daily service however only Thursday through Monday flights will operate on the A380 with the remaining Tuesday Wednesday flights still operating from their Boing 747. Last week Qantas announced that it would be opening an upgraded single class/status Qantas International Lounge Hong Kong from March 2014 the new Qantas Hong Kong Lounge will be similar to what the airline opened in April this year in Singapore.
Qantas have announced that they will be starting Qantas A380 Hong Kong services from 15 January 2012, after the company receives its 11th Airbus A380 Aircraft. Qantas CEO, Alan Joyce said Hong Kong was a key market for Qantas and launching new product on the route was important for both the business and leisure market. “Qantas will operate four return services per week between Sydney and Hong Kong from 15 January 2012,” Mr Joyce said. “Our A380 fleet has continued to generate extremely positive feedback from our customers since its introduction, and we are pleased to now add another destination to our A380 network,” “Qantas is set to offer passengers travelling to Hong Kong the latest in comfort and design.
